Couples Therapy

Using rigorous scientific procedures we will deepen the friendship foundation in the relationship, learn to manage conflict successfully, honor each other’s dreams and create a shared meaning between you and your partner. Healing and problem solving take place in a relational context both within and outside the therapy session. The therapy process includes homework assignments to anchor the new skills outside the therapy office. After (and even during) a comprehensive assessment, you will begin to reignite the intimacy and rebuild the trust you once had.  Like many others that I have witnessed, you will build the skills and knowledge to navigate your relationship to its fullest potential.

Based on 18 years of working with couples, clinical training, and The Gottman Institute’s 40+ years of research, I believe that good practice is based on scientifically supported interventions.

The Gottman Institute’s research shows that to make a relationship last, couples must become better friends, learn to manage conflict, and create ways to support each other’s hopes for the future. Drs. John and Julie Gottman have shown how couples can accomplish this by paying attention to what they call the Sound Relationship House, or the nine components of healthy relationships.
